I was born in High Point North Carolina but my family and I quickly moved to Greensboro North Carolina where I lived out my childhood. My parents divorced when I was young. Due to this I have a large immediate family consisting of two sets of parents, a brother, two step sisters, and a step brother. The two most important members of my family are our two dogs, Chloe and Gatsby. Growing up I always loved video games, technology, and creating things. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to pursue these interests here at HPU.

WHO AM I?

My name is Matthew Amend and I am currently a freshman at High Point University. I am here studying computer science and game design. Over the summer I worked at Caffey Distributing where I was the Grocery Chain Swing Assistant.

But what is a Grocery Chain Swing Assistant? There are three major facets of the beer distribution industry: On Premise, Convince Store, and Grocery. I was responsible for any overflow jobs in Grocery. This took many forms, from working on excel spreadsheets, to loading product onto shelves, to integrating a new product organization system.

I graduated from Greensboro Day School earlier this year with a 4.0 GPA. While there I had a wide variety of interests including Varsity and Junior Varsity sports, ceramics, and an E-sports team that my friend and I founded and played on. During the last month of my Senior year I completed an internship with Caffey Distributing. Due to this, I was given the opportunity to be their Grocery Chain Swing Assisant over the summer.
